The following is what I have built into my BOB gear.
Not sure if any one else has done this with a pilots survival vest , but I have not read much on it or seen any thing on line about it.
I have designed my BOB into 3 stages.
The 1st stage I used a US Military pilots survival vest, you know the mesh ones with lots of pockets on it. This vest has the following basic short-term survival items I would need if I needed to drop the heavy gear and evade an enemy. Total vest weight with gear is only 3 lbs.
1. Compass
2. Water purification tablets
3. Small Mag light
4. Leather man
5. Toilet paper
6. 25’ 550 cord
7. 4 function whistle with, magnifying glass, thermometer, compass
8. Bug repellent
9. 2 sq feet of heavy-duty aluminum foil folded up
10. Altoids box with fish gear, razor blade and a few different kinds of over the counter medications.
11. 1 green chem. Light
12. Small bottle hand sanitizer
13. Fire making kit, matches, 2 bic lighters, 1 flint, small bag of dryer lint, and 2 trioxane bars
14. Basic first aid kit
15. 1 waterproof bag, the one that comes with a gas mask
16. 1 emergence foil survival blanket
17. 1 OD green rain poncho
18. 6oz bottle of water
19. 4 energy bars
My stage 2 gear is an LBV. This also known as my BOB combat load.
This has the pistol belt with H Harness, but pack, 2 ammo pouches, 2 canteens. One canteen pouch has the cup and the other has the small trioxane stove. The H Harness also has a pouch on it camo face paint and a K-bar attached to it. On the belt is also another survival knife. Total LBV weight with gear is only 6 lbs.

5. Small first aid kit (More advanced than the one in the vest)
6. 1 angle head flashlight w/ extra batteries

Stage 3 of my BOB gear is my main pack; Total pack weight with gear is 48 lbs.
1. Sleeping bag
2. 8 MRS and other small foods
3. Small telescoping fishing rod and small fishing kit
4. Level 2 first aid kit
5. 2 OD green 8’x8’ tarps
6. 100’ 550 cord
7. Folding shovel
8. Mess kit
9. Extra clothing, 2 extra underwear, 2 sets of BDU’s, 3 extra socks, 3 extra OD shirts, EWCS jacket with a liner
10. 2 extra hunting Knives
11. 1 extra flashlight w/extra batteries,
12. Extra ammo for guns, 100 rounds of each, 9mm, 12ga, .223
13. Night vision
14. Water
15. Water purification device
16. Hygiene kit: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor etc
17. Along with other small survival items
18. H20 bladder

21. Gas Mask and 3 filters, with hood and carry bag
